To The Mothers

To the mother trying so hard to conceive your baby.

To the mother who knew her baby as only a precious scan picture and two lines on a pregnancy test.

To the mother injecting herself every day and praying her IVF treatment works,

And the mother who lost her baby too soon.

You are all mothers - every day.

To the mother who is feeding her baby at 3am, completely exhausted.

And the mother of the toddler who has had a million meltdowns today.

To the mother who doubts herself,

And the mother who feels guilt.

You are all mothers - every day.

To the step mothers trying so hard,

To the mother who has adopted.

To the mother doing her best even though her own childhood was challenging.

And to the mother of the child who is 'different'.

You are all mothers- every day.

To the mother on the school playground, who has friends and yet feels so alone.

To the mother watching her baby in their first school play.

To the mother who works and feels guilty for leaving her baby,

And to the mother who stays at home and feels guilty for not working.

You are all mothers - every day.

To the mother standing in the pouring rain watching her child play sports.

To the mother who spends her weekends at tournaments and classes.

To the mother who ferries her child to play dates and parties.

And to the mother who is wondering what happened to the old her.

You are all mothers - every day.

To the mother of the door slamming teenager,

And the mother who is awake until the small hours waiting for her child to come home.

To the mothers with mothers

And to the mothers without mothers.

You are all mothers - every day

To the mother who is driving their baby to the school leavers prom.

To the mother who is watching her child graduate from university.

To the mother who is supporting her daughter to become a mother,

And to the mother who looks around her quiet home and wonders 'where did those years go?'

You are all mothers - every day.

Whether you hold your child in your arms or forever in your heart.

You are all mothers -every day.

You are strong, you are braver than you know. Be proud.
